As the Federal Reserve sends out stronger signals about an interest rate hike and limited deal flow pushes secondary loan market bids up, retail investors are jockeying for a slow return to the loan market. Thirty one weeks of outflows were quenched the week ending February 18 via nearly $130 million of inflows.
For the week ending February 25, net flows turned negative once again with over $118 million in outflows, bringing year to date total outflows to nearly $2.7 billion. Still, this figure is substantially lower than the weekly outflow observed just a few weeks ago. Among HY bond investors, weekly inflows have not only remained steady, but strong, to push year to date totals to nearly $11 billion.
