BDC investments maturing by end of 2027 total over US$21bn, representing 8.5% of loan assets

The maturity profile of BDC loan investments does not point to a major deterioration in the near-term. Looking at the maturity wall for these loans, 8.5% are coming due by the end of 2027, with 33% in the 2028-2029 timeframe and another 59% from 2030 onwards. Focusing on the near-term maturities, US$42.8bn of BDC loan investments are maturing by the end of 2027. Roughly half of these deals are in three sectors, with healthcare accounting for US$7.42bn, services at US$7.4bn and technology at US$6.4bn. These sectors are the third, second and first largest sectors in BDC portfolios, respectively. Loans in non-accrual status account for US$2.9bn of the US$42.8bn scheduled to mature by the end of next year.
