The typical “August slowdown” for the leveraged-loan market has yet to materialize, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. As of August 6, more than $31 billion of new loans have launched in a single week, marking the strongest full-week August total since Bloomberg began tracking broadly syndicated loans in 2013. That figure already surpasses the entire month’s issuance in both 2024 ($9.1 billion) and 2023 ($27.5 billion). Despite this record pace, activity remains slightly below last year’s level, which keeps conditions highly favorable for borrowers.
