North America attracts lion’s share of private debt fundraising in Q1 2023
North America emerged as the leading region for private debt fundraising in the first quarter of this year. A total of 17 funds with a North American focus raised $29.4bn, overshadowing the next most popular region, the nine Europe-focused funds that raised $5.5bn. Taking a closer look at North America-focused funds in Q1, the average capital raised smashed previous records, hitting $2.1bn. This is a 130% increase compared to Q1 of 2022. The long-term average for first quarter North America focused PD fundraising, measured from 2013 to 2023, is $853.3mn.
