BDC assets under management continued to climb in 2Q23 and now top US$290bn. This represents a 3.8% gain from the prior quarter and is up 13.5% in the last twelve months. Perpetual-life BDCs added US$4.1bn of assets during 2Q23, taking them to US$91.4bn. Private BDCs (excluding perpetuals) climbed by US$6.6bn to US$68.7bn, while public BDC assets under management finished at US$130.2bn. The market share of the 5 largest funds is now at 40% of BDC assets, while the top 10 funds account for a 53% share. Blackstone Private Credit Fund, the largest BDC, now has total assets of US$51.6bn, followed by Ares Capital Corporation at US$22.2bn and FS KKR Capital Corporation at US$15.5bn.
