Venture debt fundraising gains momentum
Venture capital fundraising fell after the public equities sell off in Q1 2022, which saw aggregate capital raised plummet from $72.5 in Q1 2022 to $11.1bn by Q3. However, more established early-stage companies may be able to access capital from the growing venture debt market. Venture debt fundraising has accelerated on the back of investor demand, raising an average of 148% of target size by final close in 2022, taking 15 months on average. This is a significant leap from the 110% of target size by final close averaged in 2021.
