Private Debt Investing for the Long Haul
Investors in private debt are generally satisfied with the performance of their portfolios. Eighty-nine percent of those we surveyed by Preqin in November 2019 said private debt performance had either met or exceeded their expectations over 2019, the highest figure among all alternative asset classes (Fig. 1.1). Just 11% of investors said that they were disappointed with performance. Fund managers are also noticing a clear improvement in investor sentiment: among those surveyed toward the end of 2019, 80% enjoyed either a slight or significant increase in investor appetite over the previous 12 months (Fig. 1.2)
