The Bloomberg US Leveraged Loan Index (Ticker: LOAN), a measure of the US institutional, broadly syndicated, leveraged loan market, returned just 0.21% in February, marking the weakest return since October 2023. While this was its 21st consecutive positive monthly return since a 0.06% dip back in May of 2023, through March 11th the index has posted negative returns of -0.13%, potentially threatening the rally.
The LOAN Index represented the worst performing Bloomberg US fixed income index in February, with the US Corporate HY Index returning 0.67%, US Aggregate returning 2.2% and US Floating Rate Notes at 0.43%.
