Growth of APAC-focused private debt AUM
faster than other regions
APAC-focused private debt assets under management (AUM) grew 24% in the six months from December 2021 to June 2022, standing at $92.6bn. The pace of growth surpassed both North America and Europe, which grew 10% and 4% respectively in the same period, and APAC’s own five-year annual average growth rate of 20% between 2017 and 2021. APAC’s private debt funds have benefited from tighter bank lending conditions, higher demand for financing, and favorable regulations in recent years. Preqin forecasts APAC private debt funds will deliver a 9.1% annual return between 2021 and 2027, stronger than the global average.
